Tax Manager

 

An Edmonton client seeks a Tax Manager to join their team.

Tax Manager Highlights:

·         We are seeking an experienced and proactive Tax Manager to oversee our tax compliance, reporting, and planning functions for Canada, the U.S., and other international regions. As a key leader in our finance department, you will play a critical role in managing tax strategies, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring compliance across multiple jurisdictions. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned tax professional to make a strategic impact within a dynamic organization.

·         Key Responsibilities:

·         Tax Compliance and Reporting:

·         Oversee income and indirect tax compliance for Canada, the U.S., and international regions.

·         Prepare tax disclosures for financial statements under US GAAP, including reconciliations and journal entries.

·         Serve as the primary contact for external tax advisors, auditors, and government authorities.

·         Manage the SR&ED process in collaboration with internal product teams and external consultants.

·         Establish and maintain strong internal controls and processes for tax compliance.

·         Tax Strategy and Planning:

·         Provide tax advice to support strategic business decisions.

·         Develop and implement a global transfer pricing strategy.

·         Oversee tax planning and compliance for various entities, including corporations, partnerships, and trusts.

·         Conduct tax planning reviews and prepare detailed memos and recommendations.

·         Identify tax-saving opportunities and lead special tax projects.

·         Research and Tax Analysis:

·         Conduct in-depth research on complex tax issues and provide actionable insights.

·         Stay informed on the latest tax regulations and legal changes.

·         Analyze federal, provincial, and local tax laws to provide strategic tax insights.

·         Offer expert guidance on a wide range of corporate tax matters.

·         Leadership and Team Development:

·         Mentor and provide technical guidance to a team of two Senior Tax Analysts.

·         Lead tax operations for the organization and its affiliates, encouraging collaboration across departments.

·         Facilitate knowledge-sharing initiatives and promote continuous improvement in tax processes.

·         Audit and Compliance Management:

·         Manage tax filing and compliance deadlines for Canadian, U.S., and Australian jurisdictions.

·         Ensure compliance with tax laws and offer insights on their potential impact on the business.

·         Act as a liaison with government authorities for tax compliance purposes.

·         Lead external tax audits and manage disputes to achieve favorable outcomes.

·         Oversee quarterly and annual tax provisions and deferred tax reporting across the group.

·         International Tax Collaboration:

·         Collaborate with global finance teams to address tax matters and review financial statements.

·         Partner with domestic and international tax specialists on audits, reviews, and advisory services.

·         Ensure compliance with provincial and international sales tax regulations.

·         Oversee GST/PST/HST/QST compliance and coordinate with third-party tax recovery partners on special projects.

·         Qualifications:

·         Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or other relevant certification preferred.

·         Proven experience in tax compliance, reporting, and strategy across multiple jurisdictions.

·         Expertise in US GAAP and tax provision processes.

·         Strong knowledge of SR&ED, transfer pricing, and international tax regulations.

·         Leadership experience in managing and mentoring tax professionals.

·         Proficiency with MS Excel and tax software.

 

Tax Manager Hours & Wage

·         Monday to Friday – 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

·         $120,000 - $130,000/year
