Financial Controller

 

An Edmonton client seeks a Financial Controller to join their team.

Financial Controller Highlights:

·         Position Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Controller to oversee the financial management of our Canadian subsidiary. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and presenting accurate financial reports, managing cash flow, optimizing working capital, and ensuring compliance with international accounting standards. This role involves close collaboration with the Denmark headquarters and other accounting teams, as well as the implementation of financial strategies and processes aligned with IFRS standards.

·         Key Responsibilities:

·         Prepare and virtually present accurate and timely financial reports to the Denmark headquarters, including the CEO and CFO, on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.

·         Develop and implement financial strategies, budgets, and forecasts to support the Canadian subsidiary's growth and operational goals.

·         Monitor and manage cash flow on a bi-weekly basis to ensure adequate liquidity for operational needs and growth initiatives.

·         Optimize working capital and oversee treasury functions, including managing loans, borrowings, and ensuring spending limits align with financial strategies.

·         Collaborate with accounting teams in other locations (e.g., OKC) to streamline processes, share resources, and enhance efficiency.

·         Identify financial risks and implement measures to mitigate them effectively.

·         Work closely with the risk management team to conduct comprehensive risk assessments and ensure adherence to best practices.

·         Analyze financial performance, identify areas for improvement, and provide actionable recommendations to enhance profitability and efficiency.

·         Implement processes to ensure compliance with IFRS standards and maintain up-to-date knowledge of international accounting practices.

·         Provide strategic financial insights to senior management to support decision-making processes.

·         Qualifications:

·         Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.

·         Proven experience of 5+ years in a senior finance role, preferably in the wind energy industry or a related sector.

·         Extensive knowledge of financial management principles, project accounting, accounting practices, and taxation in Canada.

·         Familiarity with international accounting standards, specifically IFRS.

·         Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide strategic insights.

·         Experience in supporting and reporting on project business, with a focus on enhancing profitability and efficiency.

·         Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present financial information clearly and effectively.

·         Ability to collaborate with international teams and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

 

Financial Controller Hours & Wage

·         Monday to Friday – 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

·         $95,000 - $125,000/year
