Assistant Controller
An Edmonton client is searching for an Assistant Controller to join their team.
Assistant Controller Highlights:
· Lead the preparation of monthly forecasts and conduct detailed variance analysis to assess performance against targets.
· Oversee financial close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in financial reporting.
· Collaborate with the FP&A team to review postings related to past acquisitions and identify any necessary adjustments.
· Work on budgeting, performance analysis, and bids, identifying and addressing process gaps in GL coding, invoice processing, and AP/AR management.
· Manage a team of 4 direct reports including Buyers, Accounts Payable and Purchase Order/Invoice Clerks, and General Accountants.
· Ensure the cleanliness and accuracy of financial reporting, particularly focusing on simplifying P&L statements post-acquisition and managing intercompany transactions.
· Analyze P&L drivers such as labor, field KPIs, and repair and maintenance spending to provide insights and support decision-making.
· Maintain a target variance of 2-3% between Actual and Forecasted AEBITDA.
· Operational Involvement in Financial Reporting/Literacy:
· Conduct quarterly lunch and learn sessions on finance-related topics to enhance team members' financial literacy.
· Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
· CPA, CGA, or CMA designation required.
· Minimum of 6 years of experience in financial analysis roles.
· Previous experience as a Financial Analyst preferred.
· Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
· Excellent leadership and team management skills.
· Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and variance analysis.
· Effective communication and presentation abilities.
· Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
Assistant Controller Hours & Wage
· 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday
· $105,000 - $120,000 /year
