Senior Land Development Engineer
An Edmonton client is seeking a Senior Land Development Engineer to join their team.
Senior Land Development Engineer Highlights:
· Engineering Budgets:
· Assess initial planning validity.
· Conduct initial preliminary engineering on an hourly basis.
· Determine fees based on project complexity.
· Design fees typically calculated as a percentage of construction costs (approximately 9%).
· Construction Budgets:
· Manage project sizes ranging from $1M to $50M.
· Prepare estimates at key design points to facilitate client financing and project viability.
· Timelines:
· Aim to complete designs in the year prior to construction.
· Adjust timelines based on client’s investment willingness and prevailing market conditions.
· Account for regulatory and municipal approval processes.
· Oversee significant projects, such as a $50M development site spanning over 2+ years.
· Role of the Successful Candidate:
· Source new work to maintain and grow team workload.
· Develop and maintain trust relationships with clients to ensure clear communication and met expectations.
· Ensure proposals align with project specifics, despite being percentage-based.
· Grow the group and backlog to provide consistent workload for staff.
· Planning Phase:
· Create a design brief outlining high-level requirements and estimates.
· Prepare design deliverables centered around design drawings, with multiple submissions for approval.
· Submit additional required documentation (e.g., Alberta Environment, Alberta Transportation, municipal erosion and sediment control plans).
· Team Structure and Development:
· Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff.
· Utilize a co-op program for additional resources, with potential for permanent staff positions.
· Qualifications:
· 5+ years of experience in land development.
· Experience with stormwater management and report writing, including modeling with PCSWWM, XPSTORM, or SWMHYMO.
· Experience with sediment and erosion control design and construction monitoring, including CPESC ACC.
· Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology.
· P. Eng or P.L. (Eng.) designation.
· Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.

8:00 am to 5:00 pm – Monday to Friday
$100,000 – $120,000/year
