Mechanical Engineer - P.Eng
A company is seeking a self-motivated individual to join the Engineering team. The successful candidate will provide mechanical engineering services to the manufacturing departments and offer oversight to the plant engineers. The primary focus of this role will be to support the integrity program of overhead cranes while assisting the plant engineers in engineering decision-making and problem-solving related to the plant and equipment.
Responsibilities
Work in a safe and responsible manner, ensuring understanding and compliance with critical safety, environmental, and quality working systems.
Initiate and develop engineering solutions for identified issues raised by the operations team and provide Mechanical Engineering support for various projects.
Design and implement equipment modifications and repair solutions to ensure plant integrity, safety improvement, and reliability enhancement.
Provide oversight and support for the overhead crane inspection and integrity program. Contribute input and develop recommendations to enhance the program and engineer solutions to address identified deficiencies.
Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and technical personnel to resolve plant and system issues.
Oversee the resolution of key technical issues through plant engineers to ensure appropriate and effective resolution.
Serve as a mentor for other mechanical engineers.
Communicate technical knowledge and process changes to teams.
Conduct risk assessments when necessary and implement actions to manage identified risks before proceeding with work.
Qualifications and Skills
Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution.
Registration with a relevant professional engineering association is required.
10 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering within a heavy industry/manufacturing setting.
Preferred experience working with overhead cranes.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Job Details
Monday to Friday, 7:30 am – 4:30 pm.
Full-time, permanent position.
Fast-paced environment.
